THE LOST YEARS
PHOTOS 1979-1984
PHOTOS 1971-1979
It all began with a Brownie Hawkeye Camera...I was 7 years old, and had a whole dollar to burn.  The lure of a good deal was in my blood--there was no use fighting it--I had inherited Mom's garage sale-gene.  So on that September afternoon in 1971, I discovered photography.  For my dollar, I got a great little camera (which I still own), and an honest-to-God carved bone picture frame--at least that's what the old woman who sold me the goods claimed.  The picture frame has long held an old tin-type photo of my father's aunt, "Auntie", and the camera gathers dust on a bookshelf...maybe I'll find some film.......
I've always loved the "ghost-like" quality of anything photographed in motion with the Brownie--and it's a great camera to take double exposures with.
Here's one of my very first pics.  Taken in the backyard of my childhood home of our two dogs, "Tiny" (the huge Cowdog I'd selected from our friend's litter when I was 5--his name DID fit!) and "Tramp"--my sister's Fox Terrier
In looking back at the series of first photos, it soon becomes evident that Mom was the real photographer--and I was her model--horrible hair, but great clothes that she'd hand tailored for me
