| healing through art... I never had really realized that I used the process of creating art as an avenue for healing until I recently attended a Found Object Workshop by the the prominent assemblage artist Beverly Mangham of Sleeping Dog Studio. I had signed-up with the intent to create a shadow box with a sunflower as it's focus, but came away with not only an "altar piece" that has evolved into an intensely personal statement, but also a new attitude! God bless you, Beverly. Thank you for your guidance, and for so generously opening-up your treasure room, and allowing us all to explore, AND to Billy Ray for your love-inspired luncheon:-]! putting the past into perspective... I now realize that the hours [upon hours!] that I spent painting watercolours [and listening to R.E.M] after my mom's passing; the collecting and creating intricate assemblages after a long illness; and the vigor with which I embraced bodywork--an exquisite artform in itself, upon the passing of my beloved Schnoodle, were all deep expressions of my grief. The processes required to create these pieces allowed me to work through the most difficult times in my life. I am working to photograph the various works and post them here...this, too, is a process! Please visit often, as I have LOTS of things to add. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have more "object" hunting to do! P.S. If you find something--a cool piece of glass, a rock--especially a rock!, an old watch or rusty-bit, send 'em my way--you never know, it could become a piece of art! working to preserve YOUR past: Please contact me if you would like for me to create a "Memory Box" with your special treasures. I work with your old photos, momentos like ticket stubs, baseball cards, pins, maps, etc., creating a one-of-a-kind museum-quality pieces that reflect that special someone: YOU! eMail Angie at mychuntzu@yahoo.com |
