A SENSE OF PLACE
I first visited "Colorful Colorado" when I was five years old.  I always wanted to go back...then in later years upon returning, it was the combination of special people and the majestic beauty that made a soulprint on me.
COL'RAAAADO
...traveling through Buffalo Creek,Colorado in April of 2006, I came upon a place that I thought had been logged....as I drove along I became more disgusted--it seemed that this beautiful place had been used for human consumption, but then I saw a series of signs that read something like this:
SEE WHAT BEAUTY
CAN BE DESTROYED
HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL...
especially just after a fresh blanketing of snow.  And if I hadn't been traveling in a 21' RV with a VERY wide turning ratio, I'd have gone back and captured the whole scene.
For our 23rd anniversary, my husband and I took the narrow-gauge train at Durango with our fishing guide Chris. We 3 were dropped off to hike to Cascade Creek where Chris was to teach us to fly-fish.  [Pictured above] Chris is about to release my first ever caught-on-fly Brook Trout!
NEW MEXICO
WHILE VISITING NEW MEXICO WITH MY SISTER IN SEPTEMBER 2006, WE ATTENDED THE FALL BALLOON FEST NEAR WHITE SANDS.  CLICK HERE TO SEE MY BALLOON SERIES
TEXAS
I am a seventh-generation, "born & bred" Texan.  My mother's family settled the Richmond-Rosenberg area after receiving land grants from Stephen F. Austin for being a part of Austin's Colony of 300.  On my father's side, I'm related to the Bartons of Barton Springs fame [fame in name only, as somehow the water flows, just not the wealth!]  Intrestingly, there are also Pages on dad's side--as in the architect, Charles H. Page that designed the Hays County Courthouse. All that said, I'd be really remiss if I didn't include photos of my beloved home state.
We really, REALLY like to fish, and so I always bring my camera along to capture the first light [otherwise I'd NEVER see it!]  I'm not what you call "a morning person", but I'll suffer just about anything for the perfect shot.
